Asking for engine damage too. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to keep the idle on the M8 above 900RPM or run the risk of engine damage. Pretty sure it’s an oil pressure thing.

I am no mechanic that’s for darn sure. What I would give to have just an ounce of the talent and mechanical ingenuity that I have seen here on this forum. I am sure many of you guys have a better grasp on what he did, than I do. To see the M8 retro engineered is pretty interesting. It’s amazing to me he had the wherewithal (and courage!) to make those changes. With the bike unencumbered by BCM and EFI, I wonder what type of power the motor can produce. AND, as Ip said, the idle is pretty cool.

Every modification isn't for everybody. He did his own thing to his bike making it his own and ended up with an M8 that sounds like an old Harley, complete with the pfft and dies, but I applaud him for his ingenuity.

LOL, yes Keithhu, poor choice of words. I should have said "removed" as opposed to "unencumbered."

Unquestionably the bike will produce more power with EFI properly tuned.

I suppose someone has to do it just to prove they can . Even if it makes no sense.

My old Slim S with Vance and Hines slash cuts sounded about the same with the idle turned down to 850... And I had seen a video on youtube with a guy that had his turned down to 700. But its not a good idea... And will cause stalling just like his did with the carb.

Very true....

That was an interesting mod to say the least, and it required a good amount of know-how to pull off.....

But I think of the money it cost to do it, and the lost value in a new bike by modding it that way, and I just have to wonder.... WHY????

But hey, it's not the first time I looked at a mod and wondered... WHY??????

PS- If he had thrown a kick starter on it too, I would have been truly impressed!
