Stock pipes with matting removed
I wanted to know what it would sound like with the baffles intact but without the sound deadening fiberglass matting inside. I couldn’t find any info so I did it myself. The results are pretty good considering it’s FREE if you have the right tools. Still quiet at idle but sounds better. Much louder when you get on it. If you don’t want to spend the cash on aftermarket pipes but want a little more sound then this is an option. Here’s a video of the results.

I had a 2009 RKC I did that to. Ymmv but I couldn't take it for very long. My low end took a shit first off and on long trips my ear drums ruptured. An exaggeration but after a full day of riding it was absolutely obnoxious in my opinion. I ended up welding caps in the ends and used an 1 1/2" hole saw to tame it down a little. Got my low end torque back too

You could add Thunder Torque Inserts.

Sounds very tinney. Lost the deeper sound.

I agree. This was just an experiment since I’m ordering aftermarket pipes soon anyway. I kind of like the sound though, sounds more old school to me.

I’m getting the cobra neighbor haters. I’ve heard them on a few different bikes and I love the sound they make, especially with the stock header. I’m not planning to do any other mods. Not too loud but have the tone I like.
I heard a twin cam cvo yesterday with cobra headers, neighbor haters and a tune and omg it was loud. Sounded good but wow. I think they sound just right with the stock header. |

Could you post a few pics of the baffles/internals when you get them? Curious how they are constructed and the baffle type. |

Here’s pics of the neighbor haters. They’re straight through and have multiple holes drilled in the internals. They have an awesome potato idle sound. When riding it’s like a mellow rumble until you get on it. It’s gonna take some getting used to but I like it. Just hope the neighbors don’t hate me lol

I also didn’t notice any loss of power on my short ride tonight. We'll see what happens tomorrow

What is the diameter of the Neighbor Hater baffles?
|
I was able to use some scrap material and made a 2.5" baffle to try out in my Street Cannons. Curious to see how loud these will be. Maybe this week some time.

Nice rumble, not too loud but deeper than the 1.75" baffle. Only did it in the right muffler. Pretty happy with the result. |
