I stopped using the dealer after my first 1000 miles free service.

I have some great dealers within 100 miles (Smith Bros Johnson City, TN is a good one) but our local shop couldn't treat customers any worse. I've already detailed my problems in the bad dealer thread so I'll leave it alone. Needless to say I've spent my last dime with them.

Is it true that a Stage 1 upgrade has to be on the bike for the idle update to work?
My dealer told me that I would need to purchase the Street Tuner Module, P/N: 41000008C ($300 USD) and have the dealer download the Stage 1 Map (more money) which should raise your idle speed to 950. Unless you plan to change your exhaust and intake to make the Stage 1 Download worthwhile, that would be an expensive way to just increase the idle speed. https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...ance-tuner-kit |

One I bought the bike from sold out a year later and the closer dealer I've used for a head gasket warranty issue I doubt I go back to, two visits and got the gomer treatment both times which was supremely annoying seeing how I've been dealing with harleys sometimes professionally since the 70's.
Looking at maybe replacing my old cheapy table lift with a Handy or hydraulic unit I know will take the weight. |
i spoke with the nearest dealer to me (about 60 miles away) a couple weeks ago about flashing my GTS radio to enable the WHIM setting so I could use Apple Carplay without a headset. Not only did the service dept. guy not know what I was talking about and argue with me that it wouldn't work, he then proceeded to tell me "he guessed they would do it but it could void my warranty..." I laughed pretty hard at him and asked why a harley technician flashing a harley radio with harley software at a harley dealership would possibly void my warranty?!?! he did not have a good answer, just a lot of mumbling. officially done with those jokers!

Here in Brazil we had 18 Harley dealerships, today only 11, Touring bikes and CVO the seller avoids selling them claiming to be problematic.
