I agree but the Harley TSB instructions require removal. I keep my warranty if I remove it and follow instructions, so peace of mind if I have a breakdown and that little part costs me a free repair.

...Does anyone see a problem with leaving the deflector installed when venting the primary? Thanks in advance

Yes, I tried just fitting the vent to a '19 and it pushed primary lube out of the vent, I'm guessing the deflector creates positive air pressure on the cross-shaft.

It doesn't happen on '18s with no slinger. I cured it the lazy way with a one-way valve on the vent...

I understand your position on this,, since warranty is impoertant to you. I voided my warranty long ago, so it's not an issue for me

Do you have to remove the exhaust to get to the deflector?

Depends what exhaust you have. I had to loosen my stock heat shields to get the faux cover off the transmission. Some have had to loosen the entire exhaust but once you get the faux cover off you can remove the clutch slave cylinder to see if you have the deflector. I modified my cover once I had it off to make it easy to remove next time.

Remove 3 screws from the slave unit to see if you have a deflector. Don't disconnect the hose.

This deflector is black but it can be white also.

My build date date was April’s 2019, my deflector was white. I was able to get to it by removing the heat shields and loosening the header pipes, rear right exhaust and releasing the crossover on he right side a bit, pulled out just enough to get bolts out

Does removing that clutch part drain all of your hydraulic fluid?

No you are not opening the clutch system to any air. It is attached to the inner cover and sealed by it. Only transmission fluid residue leaks when opening just the Inner cover.

A fyi regarding checking/removing the oil deflector....you can reuse the gasket on the cover. I had to check my 2018 SG and I reused the gasket and it did not leak.
