.....and they came to you and picked it up. A lot of dealers won't do that either.

OP I know it's not optimal, but sometimes parts are just bad, and it sucks.

Another member just posted it for me. If you have a good tap at the rear head it might not be the lifter. In my case you can hear the lifter down low just above the cam. The noise higher up in my video is the throttle body.

Quick update, got a call from the dealer today and they are having to work directly with HD technical services. HD wants the oil pressure at cold start and at full running temperature. They also want to know the length of time from cold start up to when you hear the noise, my estimate is about 1 minute. Once things are opened up if it is a lifter they want to know which lifter and HD wants the bad lifter returned.
I hope to have more information tomorrow.

I’ve been buying from the same dealer since 2007, way to many bikes and accessories. I know the current owner and the prior owner. They have always been good to deal with and I feel they have always treated me fair. I’ve talked to other dealers when I want to trade and they never come close.
So they picked up my bike, dropped off a loaner, had a new set of lifters sent overnight. I live almost 2 hours from the dealership so it is very nice what they have done so far.

Good on your dealer for getting you a loaner bike.
If it is a bad lifter; I'd want all four changed out - to something other than H-D lifters! I'm sure you could work something out with your service department in that regard.

very cool, similar story for us..same dealership for 15 years..great to have a long term relationship, they appreciate the loyalty and reciprocate with above and beyond service, discounts, special deals, preferential treatments, etc. just one example was back a couple years ago when they had the clutch actuator recall but was delayed, there weren't going to be nearly enough available right away and was going to take months for HD to get through them all..our Service Writer called me when the first batch came in to get both of our bikes done first..we bought the very first 2 M8s from them..they don't forget stuff like that

Quick update, the dealer ran the test HD required and HD has now approved replacing the front two lifters. This is without the lifters even being inspected...?? They are going to put the bike on the lift at 1:00 this afternoon to remove and inspect the lifters. Luckily I had already planned to take vacation today and tomorrow so I will be there when the remove the lifters for inspection.
I have a lot more questions for the dealer and HD, but out of respect for my dealer I’ll hold them until after I get more facts today. I will update again later.
