They had problems early on with initial start up and blue smoke - they were being called mosquito killers.

Did the shop perform a compression test prior to tear down? If not Id ask about that, good luck on whatever you chose.
they tried and failed in 1978..completely non competitive against our CR Elsinores, YZs and RMs...or Maicos and Huskys for that matter..heck I raced all of those...my buddy does have a mint one of these though in his man cave worth around $10,000

My wife's 19 HCS 114 and my RGL 114 both stock are both getting rebuilt right now. Cylinders scratched deep from the carbon build up. We considered going to 117's but decided to go with stage 2 kits.

Our dealer says the issue with the m8's is all of emissions allowing the carbon to build up.

Was his 114 engine lacking power? If not and he was happy with the performance then for a couple of grand he'll have a fresh new much more powerful engine which he doesn't neccesserely needs/wants. His engine has got a manufacturing defect. If the dealer offers me 122/131 kit, doesn't give me new warrantied parts and/or doesn't charge me just a price difference between kits than it is nothing else just a nice try to make an extra profit. In that case... no thank you.

yeah, there's different approaches to take, I was under the impression he made a decision and pulled the trigger on that deal so was just commenting on that..personally I would have have preferred they demonstrate they can make it all right for free before ever considering introducing more change to an already suspect powertrain

No offence, it was just me thinking. Was having a deeper thoughts as I read a thread somewhere about it (and found it) https://www.hdforums.com/forum/milwa...-to-114-a.html . There is not really a point for OP to get new 114 parts as they would be more less useless (anybody who want's to go from 107 to 114 can't use it, anybody who want's to upgrade from 114 will go for higher volume kits. Who would ever replace a stock 114 for another 114?).

They credited me the parts from warranty off the cost of the kit. I feel like they were fair.
If I didnt get a deal I would have had no problem going back to the stock 114. Chances are if it wasnt for the warranty work I would not have done stage 3.

I think you'll be happy with that, even Harleys torque cam is a huge upgrade over stock, don't listen to the Haters on here, it'll be good 👍, enjoy!

The problem from the get go was not valve seals. The original fix was not a fix.

Let them repair it under warranty with a new parts top end. Jugs and cylinders. Dealer is just trying to fatten his wallet.

Just answer the simple question? Do you find yourself at WOT all the time not going fast or quick enough. If so make it bigger. If not, you really don't need a dog with two dicks to just say you have that.
