After having a Stage lll 117 and sadly having that fail requiring an aftermarket big bore kit, and now having done several stage 2 for others, If doing it again I would only do Stage 2.

I went from stock straight to stage 2 when my warranty expired. Really happy with stage 2.

If u are looking for a performance increase in a stag 1, u wont get it. I did a stage 1 on my 18 107 STG. I didnt notice any difference in power. It did sound and look better better with the SE HV breather and different exhaust tho. So i had a S&S 465 cam and pv tuner installed and that made a huge difference in power and the sound was was that much better again.

Can't speak from personal experience on anything higher than Stage 2. Done stage one myself and had HD do a stage 2 torque cam. Stage 1 looked better and some minor improvement but stage 2 felt and sounded better. Also had it tuned with professional Dyno Tuner, and used a Power Vision. Only downside was my mpg went down some, but ran great. That was on my 17 SGS, and currently only running stage 1 on my 2020RGL, for wanting to keep warranty intact, so using the HD tuner. I did upgrade the oil pump on my 17 to the 8 lobe, and after that experience, I will be doing the stage 2 myself, because if you are changing an oil pump, you are pretty much doing a cam job anyway. It's not that difficult, it's a good learning experience and if you like that kind of stuff, it's kind of fun.

I did Stage 1 when I bought mine. It wasn't quite what I wanted, so I did the HD Torque cam within the 90 day window. I thought it made a big difference.

It still wasn't quite what I was looking for, so when my warranty expired I went to an aftermarket Stage 2 (RS468, Thundermax tuner), that gave me exactly what I want.

If you're unsure, I'd suggest going Stage 1, try it for awhile. You'll have the HD tuner, so the least expensive way to go to Stage 2 is with an HD cam. But if you want a real boost, you might as well go right to an aftermarket cam and tuner.

Go stage 2 the factory cam has way too much fall off. And the power was in a tiny window. 3-4500k. The cam and tune with exhaust etc will give you power and response everywhere. Makes it feel like it’s supposed to.

If you're looking for better performance on the road, brakes, suspension and tyres would be first on my list. My 107 feels like it pulls well enough, especially over 3,000rpm. Brakes, suspension and tyres seem to struggle with the weight of these bikes on twisty roads. But, all of my mates ride Jap or European bikes, which are much more nimble.

Not complaining. Love my bike. Just an observation.

well, I have over 60,000 miles on my 107 and 114 and the usable power is 2000 - 4500. and while it does fall off at 4500 one has to keep in mind that when you're running thru the gears up to that you're crushing every speed limit, sans Autobahn. so it's not about lack of speed as much as it is acceleration and how much more you want of that than it offers in stock or Stage 1 form

My stock 107 gives me everything I need, I’m just bored, plus knowing that there’s a lot of power left in the stock engine makes me a little itchy
