Default Breaking in my 2021 SG

Hello guys!! Bike won’t be here for a few weeks. Riding season is a cpl months away at least. What’s the preferred way of breaking in the M8? Thanks

congrats! follow your owners manual instructions instead of the 100 different instructions you will get here..the break in instructions have been the same forever..the folks that designed, developed, tested and produced these things for well over a century know a thing or two about them

Do a burnout leaving the dealership parking lot, hit the rev limiter getting onto the freeway.

There is no magic break in. As already stated read owners manual and ride. Don't fall for the crap you will read and hear it is a joke.

You only get to break in a bike once, take your time and follow the owners manual. You’ll hear people say to break it in how you’re gonna ride it, I ride pretty hard and that was more of a reason to break it in right, the engine needs to be introduced to the heat cycles slowly.

My son did it the old fashion way and rode it like he stole it. It used nearly a quart of oil every 1500 miles or so. My personal opinion is the rings didn't seat properly but then again HD say's it perfectly normal to use oil.

I broke my M8 in per the manual and it doesn't use a drop of oil between oil changes and I ride hard, so there's that.

Pretty crummy weather over most of the country, depending on which Ontario you in, lol. Take the time to check out the manual you paid for with that new sled and read what HD recommends you to do. The first 50 extremely important, the first 500 very important, the first 1k important. One thing I would recommend, is pay attention to the bike, the tach, when you riding, leave your girl at home, leave the jams out of your ears, and pay attention to the bike going down the road. Real easy to get distracted having a convo with the ole lady, or jamming out to the tunes, and look down seeing you doing 4500 in 3rd or lugging at 1000 in 5th.
