I dropped coin on the V&H Torquer 450's. This off of DK's site. Haven't put the TTI's in yet... but I do love the sound of the V&H's right now. :D

The Rinehart 4.5” are low end torque killers. Not sure why they have so few baffles in muffler for a touring bike. I have installed the Fuel Moto baffles, that restore low end torque, but not really satisfied with the sound.
If you have a great aftermarket cam, the sound is very satisfying. I have the 4" Touring mufflers, which IMO are the best sound cans they have. |
I decided to pack my Rineharts with SS mesh wrapped around the baffle, followed by fiberglass baffle packing material. This restored my low end torque and added a nice low toned rumble. Nice on the ol' ear holes on longer rides for sure!

Rinehart with TTIs fan here...
I started with a set of V&H Power Duals and Torquer 450s... Super loud and lost my low-end. Installed TTI-258s... Quieted things down a bit, got all my low-end back and then some. Didn’t much care for the new tone... Swapped-out the Torquer 450s for Rinehart MotoPro 450s. Loved the tone, low-end needed more... Installed TTI-158s... Golden! Got the low-end where I want it and quieted them down just a bit without significantly impacting overall tone. |

Tonight I installed a set of Rinehart DBX 40 slip on's, but with one modification. I also installed the Thunder Torque Inserts 158 on the inside baffle. I didn't do any testing before and after but I do know those open slip on's will take away some torque. Seat of the pants is that I picked up a little power in the 1800 to 4200 RPMs and they sound great! Here are some pictures for reference. They are approximately 1.75" from the end of the baffle inward. I dont think they are too noticeable visually because nobody likes looking up the exhaust pipe and seeing those lollipop's. But they function well, plus I've heard M8's are finicky with exhaust configurations and reversion/ back pressure.

Just curious what size drill bit you used and what diameter the bolt was? Thanks
Real Simple as you just drill thru bottom of muffler and on thru baffle all together and drop in from inside. The deeper you go the trickier it may be to drop it in the hole. They are very good quality and do as advertised. Found this @ https://www.dkcustomproducts.com/thunder-torque-inserts-258-model-family-dk-tti-258.htmFEATURES & SPECS:

Pretty sure it was a 5/16" bolt so clearance would be .323.

awesome thanks man. So I’m assuming you did not need the longer thread option?
A longer stud would only be needed if the distance from outer pipe to inside baffle where insert mounts was huge. Like a huge muffler and small baffle. If you tell DK what you have they will get you what you need. |

Have installed them in Rinehart and V&H and no, did not need longer stud.

I'm running the Rinehart DBX 4.5 and was not super happy with the sound and loss of torque. After adding an S&S 475 cam and the Fuelmoto tuning inserts, all is right with the world... Beautiful, classic, V-Twin sound and most of my low-end torque restored.. interestingly, Fuelmoto's inserts are rectangular rather than round, like the OP's.
Thought I'd include the FM link. I'm running the universal fit. https://www.fuelmotousa.com/i-238988...g-inserts.html |
