Rinehart DBX40 w/ Thunder Torque Inserts

Tonight I installed a set of Rinehart DBX 40 slip on's, but with one modification. I also installed the Thunder Torque Inserts 158 on the inside baffle. I didn't do any testing before and after but I do know those open slip on's will take away some torque. Seat of the pants is that I picked up a little power in the 1800 to 4200 RPMs and they sound great! Here are some pictures for reference. They are approximately 1.75" from the end of the baffle inward. I dont think they are too noticeable visually because nobody likes looking up the exhaust pipe and seeing those lollipop's. But they function well, plus I've heard M8's are finicky with exhaust configurations and reversion/ back pressure.

Interesting. I would think those provide TOO much exhaust restriction with the baffles and cat still installed, but I'm far from an expert. I'm going to de-cat the headers and plug the left side pipe with a Thunder Monsters baffle: https://bigcitythunder.com/products/...onster-baffles https://us-east-2-02850030-view.menl...0xNTY4NjU3NTE1

It's apparent that these motors are sensitive to exhaust reversion, looks like there are several design concepts that eventually accomplish the same thing. TTI 158 may appear to restrict the exhaust flow but I can assure you they don't, but I haven't put the mufflers on a flow bench to test this theory. If you look at a stock muffler and the baffle design this appears to be much more restrictive than my set up. This motor is eventually going to be a 120ci BB with a mild cam 'TTS200' and 64mm throttle body, I've also purchased the Fullsac stainless header. In the end the motor will produce anywhere from 120-125hp 'guesstimated', and is set up for sport touring. I was looking for a nice flat torque curve and linear horsepower no dips or bumps, we'll see when I finish the build and post the dyno sheet.

The Rinehart 4.5” are low end torque killers. Not sure why they have so few baffles in muffler for a touring bike. I have installed the Fuel Moto baffles, that restore low end torque, but not really satisfied with the sound.

Looks perfect to me as I done same exact thing to same pipes before.
My SE128" Stage 4 won't run worth a crap unless restricted just as much.
You would think if someone like Rhinehart, V&H or such was in business to make more business they would build pipes recommended for these new M8 engines.🤷‍♂️
FuelMoto is doing it with Jackpot!

I just saw that the other day and truly laughed out loud as it just looks bad, period!
Would definitely get what the OP installed as they are perfect and easy to install. They are also tunable as you can turn them to be less restrictive like a butterfly valve. Maybe start with 45 degrees and try a different set up and after a few tanks you will know what is best.

Just to let everyone know, the total cost was $50 and my time. All well spent. I bought these slip on’s at the suggestion of a friend, and he was correct. The sound is classic Rinehart!!

So the bigcity thunder baffle just totally plugs the left exhaust?

Not sure its 100%, but it's pretty close from what I understand.
