Interesting, I'm in Houston, but haven't experienced that. What do you mean by "fade?"

it just weakens, goes away...after a day of hard riding in heat and then creeping in traffic... interesting you've never experienced that...same thing as when I raced dirt bikes which get seriously abused, but to a much lesser degree of course...I am so happy to not have that be a thing anymore after getting my first hydraulic clutch on my 2017 M8

At least with the cable, I can adjust the engagement point to where I want it instead of all the out on a hydraulic clutch.

my 2020 is about halfway out, same now as new and feels perfect to me..the 2017 was almost all the way out..they really improved the feel and function since the early model years

Sorry to be dense, but I'm not sure I understand. You mean you pull the lever and the clutch doesn't disengage? Or it works but feels stretchy? Or the clutch starts slipping? What is it that goes away?

stretchy might be the best description..you'll know it when you feel it happen...bottom line is it changes / performs for the worse..hydraulic operation is static, as in consistently feels, operates and functions the exact same under all conditions..keep in mind it takes some really hot weather, lots of use and creeping in traffic to happen so it's not like every time you ride..it's the exception not the rule..nonetheless, I know which one I prefer based on experience over many years and miles...some people like cable better, some don't

That's interesting. No, I don't recall that happening, but maybe I was just too hot to notice, lol. Thanks for the explanation.

My hydraulic had the "fading" issue and I have seen plenty of other posts here over the last few years with folks that have had issues. You have been very lucky, my friend. I never had that issue with the cable clutch with any of the Harley bikes I've owned. Harley didn't go back to cable because the Hydraulics were working so well.

well if if it's just pure luck that wife and I have experienced 160,000 combined miles of flawless clutch operation and performance on our four M8s then so be it..if I get another Harley down the road with a cable clutch I'll consider it a downgrade...I guess it'sunfortunate for those folks comprising the "plenty of other posts here over the last few years with folks that have had issues"
