Insurance ?

Time to renew and my policy went up $50.00 ( never had a claim in all my years ) I'm 75 . I live in a no fault state where my insurance is supposed to pay any damages to me and my vehicle and the other drivers insurance is supposed to pay his unless of course he/she doesn't have any insurance. So to that extent I have to pay uninsured\underinsured motorist premium . I feel this is double dipping by the insurance companies but have to pay anyway.
Anyway; I feel $500.00 is too much for the few months of driving we have here in Ct. and am asking who has a better ins. co. and what their premiums are. I'm with Dairyland at the moment. Thanks any and all comments.

Nels, I live in NC and I have liability only. I pay ~$280/yr. I'm with State Farm. I'm going to guess CT is a high cost insurance state. Good luck.

I also live in ct and have been using progressive and have had great service with them and because of no issues have received rider discounts and my payments have been lower from year to year. Rider forgiveness is also a plus in the event you do have an accident.

Who is your car insurance through? I have Geico and since I have my Car through them my bike is pretty cheap under $300, separate, like $250 higher...and Im around DC...I ride pretty much year round, but I think they also have an option for winter "no ride" times..but dont ride in that period!!...My Bro live in CT..I'll ask him who he uses...

WOW! I'm around $250.00 a year with full coverage on the bike.

I've heard to have Insurance policies re-evaluated every 5 yrs.

State Farm and live in Iowa.
$225 for '02 Sporty and about the same for my '07 Ultra.
Dented my Ultra tank and SF replaced it.
$1,300 with new tank and labor.
($250 deductable).
No increase in premiums.

Had Progressive for 5 years ('02 Sporty new) with NO claims but every year the premium kept going up.
Started at $174 and got to $250 a year.
When I got the Ultra in 2007, they wanted $700 a year for that bike.
Checked SF and got both bikes covered for under $500 a year.
Full coverage and I can ride whenever I want.
I don't ride in the winter (salt) but if I wanted to, I'm covered.

I'm in Virginia and pay about $300 for a 2016 RGS through Markel. They're a speciality insurer and only write policies for motorcycles, ATVS, etc, and the premium hasn't gone up for three years. I dropped Dairyland when they kept slowly increasing my premium even though I've been riding 35 plus years with no claims. This is a tactic that insurance companies use. They charge you just a little extra each year betting that small increases won't trigger you to leave. I have to carry uninsured motorists coverage because in Virginia you can drive with no insurance as long as you pay a fee to DMV. It's ridiculous. So far, Markel has been good.

Be careful in comparing ins.prices.Take into consideration about coverage..do they cover passenger, add ons, milage per year...my buddy has a low premium but does not cover the passenger.

We're in at $443 yearly for 3 bikes with Progressive. All have collision, comp, uninsured motorcist, roadside assistance, accessory coverage, $3500 coverage for damage to my trailer and $500k liability. All in the Soviet Socialist Republic of New York.
Bike premiums are one thing I don't bitch about. But the relatively low cost may be due to the age of the bikes. Premiums have actually dropped each of the last 2 or 3 years.
Not trying to be a forum cop, but there is an insurance forum here.

NELS, I hate to say it,but I think your age is a factor! I also have dairyland though, and mine went up this year too.[a little under $500-I'm 64 years old]
I've been planning on shopping around also. I have Geico on my car, maybe I can get a deal from them?
