JIMS/Baker 6-speed guts.
This is an early 6-speed gear-set that fits in a 5-speed case built by JIMS under copyright from Baker. I have 31,000 miles on it and it works perfectly...EXCEPT for the noise in 6-th gear. It is well known that these transmissions had a real noise problem in #6, so be aware of what you may be purchasing here. I went back to my 5-speed because I could rarely use 6 anyway on a heavy trike pulling a wife and all her baggage in the trailer. This gear-set slides into your existing 5-speed case and is complete with all the gears, internals (shift drum, forks, etc.) and the trap door. You will need to press-in the 5th. gear and new main bearing, but 5th. gear is in the kit. No chipped teeth, no broken gears/dogs, or nothing that I can see other than normal wear you would expect, but I do suspect the trap door bearings. This trap door has the bearing retainer plate and not the snap ring retention design, which was the bad one. JIMS will take this back and recondition it for $360.
It will lay around here until I sell it, give it away or throw it away. Somebody may just need some parts?
If you have, or know of anybody that has a blown up 5-speed....this will slide right in. #1 is 2.94, #3,4 and 5 are stock ratio and #6 is .86 OD.
$250 and buyer pays shipping.
