Default How can I get my SG to ride like an Ultra...?

I love my bike, and love the look, but the ride is so harsh or firm. How can I improve it without spending a fortune?

I've already changed the rear air shocks to Progressive 944's. That helped a bit, but if I happen to not be paying attention to a imperfection in the roadway I get a spine jarring jolt to my back.

I've test ridden several Ultra's and do not have that issue. I am at the point of replacing my beautiful bike with another beautiful bike. I'd rather keep my SG, but it's wearing me out.

Suggestions and thoughts are welcomed.........

I just had Works Performance built a set of their Steel Tracker shocks for my RK. They may help, give them a call.

when you changed the rear shocks was it the 12” or 13”? Ultras have an additional inch of travel and it does make a difference on the quality of the ride.

At the time, prior to the release of the "low" models, there seemed to be only one part number from Progressive. I recently verified and got the "Ultra-Touring" model, that is said to maintain ride height, but provide an additional 1" of travel.

Not so. All SG's come with a 16" rear wheel except CVO's they come with an 18" rear wheel.

The front is different, '14's and above are 19".

Sometimes it brings back memories of the ride of my '93 softail.........

What springs do you have on the 944's? Standard or heavy duty?
