Default Riding Shorts (base layer)

I'm on my 3rd seat and can't seem to get rid of the butt burn that develops after 40 miles or so. Do Lycra Shorts or something similar make any difference?.
Currently using a HD 52000248 solo, which has a vinyl cover.. Little or no improvement for me from the stock SGS seat. (would a leather cover be better for comfort?)
Thoughts on Sheep Skin pads for longer rides. Seems like something that will breath a little might be better than HD vinyl? If you use some type of Pad, or Skin please share your findings.
Thanks!

I wear Exofficio wicking boxers on long rides. Helps eliminate monkey-butt

I just started using the AirHawk cushion a couple of weeks ago on my stock seat. It took a few tries to get it dialed in, but after that it made a world of difference. I rode for three hours the other day and I had no butt burn.

The compression shorts work to a degree. The air hawk is better.

I have the h-d seat pad. I like it until it gets into the 90's. Then I take it off & put on my wood beads. Can't beat them for circulating the air.

Talc. Very normal part of hygiene up through most of 20th century. Then came the "body sprays" and deodorant soaps, etc.

Talc has moisture absorbing properties. Even the foo foo corn starch versions are better than nothing.

Available in a lot of good scents.

Talc. That's the start. Then the ex-officio and the like.

Gold Bond
Shower to Shower
Pinaud

Etc. Etc. all good stuff.

The wife & I also use the wood beads (Beadrider Brand) on long trips which we think makes a world of difference... Not real expensive like many of the other pads or air cushions out there on the market!

I use the Harley pad and can really feel a difference. Sounds like the beaded pads are even better.

The importance of the shorts is they pull the moisture away from your skin. I personally like loose boxers better.

I have never used talc. Never needed to.
