Default Service manual compatibility question

I am picking up a 2015 Road King next week, and naturally need a service manual for it. I already have a 2016 Touring Service manual, and I’m wondering if I actually need to buy a 2015 specific book? Shouldn’t everything be the same between ‘15 and ‘16?

I bought my service manual when I bought my 15 rgs. I now have a 16 rgu. So far everything in the book seems accurate. I haven't found any changes between the 15 & 16 bikes.

I would suggest asking the parts guy at a dealership.

The parts guy who gets a commission on selling me the 2015 book? The parts guy who could be liable if one torque value changed and I strip threads out of a casing incurring a thousand dollar repair bill? Clearly I exaggerate, but dealers are very risk averse and I would bet will say get the 2015 manual regardless if they are identical...

However, now that I just thought up that imaginary scenario, I just talked myself out of being cheap and will just get the right book lol.

if I’m not mistaken, service manuals normally list a year/model range that they cover. If a newer one than yours covers 15, you should be good enough with the one you’ve got.

Can't speak for Road Kings however I know from personal experience there are differences (handlebar wiring) between '15 and '16 Ultra Limiteds. FWIW
