My stock rear brake pedal (16 Ultra) seems to work fine. What are the advantages to these aftermarket pedals?

It changes the position of the pedal so you don't need to lift your foot as high to activate the rear brake. I find the pedal significantly more comfortable as it puts my foot into a more natural position.

I have the Kury on my 2014 - installed it back in 2015 when I learned what a difference it would make.

There was a discussion on this board sometime ago - and folks collectively shared the differences as well as pictures. Make sure you get the Kury that is made for lowers.

I will try to find the thread -look here - Search - https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-r...ake-pedal.html

Bought a Kuryakyn lower compatible (shorter) extended brake pedal, installed it then took it off because of two reasons:

1.) Couldn't get the toe of my boot under the pedal and that was an uncomfortable riding position.

2) Toe of my boot interfered with highway pegs when depressing the brake pedal (kept me from fully depressing the foot brake) and had a couple of "Whoops!" while stopping in traffic.

So for comfort and safety went back to the factory brake pedal.

YMMV

I have the slotted Softbrake on my 2016 FLHTK. Much better pedal position. Good quality. Easy install. The only issue I have with the pedal is the finish of the slots.....very rough. I spoke to Softbrake and they didn't want to add the additional cost of smoothing the slots before chroming. Didn't feel it was necessary. I would respectively disagree.

I had the same problem, but Softbrake suggested the smaller (dyna) pedal...worked like a charm!

That makes sense, which is probably why I did not think of doing it... lol

The highway peg interference has to do with the way I mounted the pegs. I wanted to keep the highway pegs inside the dimensions of the engine guard (not stick out when folded up) and the HD 360 degree mounts attached to the bottom section of the engine guard does this but puts them too close to my big foot when applying the rear brake. Yes I know - First World Problem...

I've always felt my pedal was too high. So I d

ecided to lower my factory pedal 1 inch by cutting and welding. Looks good, works great.
