Hey Rick.... Like you, I'm on the 'puter looking out at the snow, waiting for Spring. I'm not sure how far you are from the dealer, or what their waiting list is like. I'm 130 km from my dealer. All it took was a phone call, and they picked up my bike for a couple of minor warranty issues, did the clutch recall while it was in there, and brought it back when it was done. You might want to see if your dealer will do the same. They are probably looking for work this time of year. It'll save you some down time when you'd rather be riding in the spring.

I did not have any issues and can tell no difference after the recall was completed.
I am only aware of one failure at our dealership and that one was an immediate failure, no warning, at a redlight.

Well I stopped into my dealership on Thursday just to ask where I am now on the list. They say I have 9 bikes ahead of me and of course "WE ARE ONLY GETTING A FEW KITS IN EACH WEEK".

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

Fast forward two days and my cell phone rings Saturday morning at 9am. The dealer says good news you are up, can you bring your bike right in? They can have me fixed up in 2 hours. I'm like shocked and surprised and I have a ride scheduled that I have planned and will be leading for a group from our church. So I tell him no I have plans and asked if i can come next Saturday. The reply was NO if you can't bring your bike in we will have to offer this kit to someone else.

That really pissed me off, as I have been waiting like everyone else and I ride. We did a 2200 mile ride in December! They have kept me waiting and the service guy knew he hit a nerve.

He then asked if I could drop it off at the end of the day and leave it with them. I replied yes I can do that and I would also like them to go ahead and do the 15k service while they have it. He said no problem and even offered to get me a ride back home if needed.

We ride with our group approximately 150 miles. Get back home at 3:30 pm, the wife grabs her truck and follows me to the dealership. We get there about 4:15 pm (they close at 6pm). I drop the bike off, go over everything with them. They ask if I am enjoying the bike, if everything is working right and if there are any issues they need to address. The reply was NO the bike is great.

Well we get home from church today and at 12:45 pm they call to tell me the bike is ready to go. Again I am shocked and asked how it can be complete knowing what they hours of operation are. The reply was that they had a cancellation and got me right in.

That just seemed too fast.

Of course the bottom fell out about that time or I would have gone and picked it up. Looks like tomorrow will be 50 degrees and sunny. So I'll get her back home and start my handle bar project.

I trailered mine to my dealer last Thursday and had the recall done. The work order said 1.1 hours and no charge. I can't comment on if it changed the clutch feel or how it changed performance as 2 ft of snow and -30 leaves the bike parked.

Default Clutch recall

I had my 18 SGS recall done a few weeks ago. I was not having any issues. Took less than an hour. No change to the clutch performance. Feels the same as it did before I took it in.
