The hydraulic slipper clutch is a very different feel, felt same at first but once use to it, its petty user friendly but yes it doesnt engage till pretty far out

Talked to a few techs about this same thing. It is the new clutch Harley is using. Techs told me there is no adjustment that can be done. Really freaked me out at first. But after a few hundred miles I got used to it. Needed to be careful for awhile since it is so different from my old bike. For me no complaints, its just different.

I agree that it is a little tricky when you need to feather the clutch. I found myself having a PITA time trying to creep forward up and over a board of a covered bridge w/o going too far. Sounded like I was really slipping the clutch finding that fine line of a sweet spot. I'm getting better with it as time goes on

Jeez, really? How many different bikes have you owned or ridden? How about different cars?

Yeah, the clutch on the 2017 is significantly different than the twin cams. You should be able to get used to it in a day, at the most.

The clutch engagement process isn't necessarily the problem. The problem is where it engages. Way too far from the grip. Made it very uncomfortable to do slow riding drills. Don't know why HD has to do that. They could just as easily have made it engage a more reasonable distance from the grip. Everyone doesn't have gorilla hands. Since there are no adjustable levers for these models yet I ended up bending my lever to make the engagement point much closer. Much improved for me now.
