Harley One Touch Heated Gear question

Harley One Touch Heated Gear question
Do any of you that have this gear use it as your primary clothing?
In other words; can you use it as the actual jacket, pants, and gloves instead of using it as liners underneath jacket, pants, and gloves?
I found a review on the web by a guy who did a two hour ride in Philly using only the liners and he indicated it worked great. I would like to do the same thing since I don't want to dress in layers if I don't have to.
Your opinion is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Jim

In general, heated gear is meant to be worn close to the body and covered by at least one outer layer. At least that's what the manufacturers of heated gear say.
Down to about freezing, I can get away with a t-shirt, heated jacket liner and a leather or textile jacket. I don't feel like that's a lot of layers.

Heated vest works with or with out heat over 10 years old used a lot still works as it should. My HD heat gloves have been well used with or with out heat in dry and wet weather After 10 years of heavy use this weekend was the end for them. The inside has worn out and the right one is not heating as it should.
Yes heated gear works best when worn close to the body fitting snug.

Today i went out at 23F with my LL Bean Rugged Ride parka *light weight extreme cold lightweight jacket., insulated chaps, neck gator, pair of Walmart windproof gloves insulated with hand warmers on top and was toasty warm on my ride to work. The only issue was face shield fogging which i could eliminate by cracking it open. I don't think heated gear is necessary unless you might be doing extremely LONG cold weather riding. A full non heated quality snowmobile suit is better than any heated setup. I do ride but personally don't care much for cold weather riding.

I recently rode from Mobile, AL to Fredericksburg, VA, a little over 900 miles in 18 hours. Temps were in the mid 30s from Greensboro, NC into Virginia then were flirting into the upper 20s as I approached Richmond and the remaining 50 miles or so to home. I only had the HD heated gloves. My hands were ok the whole time, but the rest of me, yeow. I was wearing thermals and a couple sweaters under a leather jacket. Jeans with rain suit trousers. Knees were in pretty bad shape when I arrived home. I really need to check into heated trousers.
