Default fork oil

how much oil in each fork for a 2009 flhx. can you use light 5 weight to refill

You can use 5wt but it will bounce because your lowering the dampening rate. Go at least 10 if your light, 15 or 20wt would be better though.

5 wt is stock in harley forks.before you jump to high try 7.5 or 10 wt.as far as how much,replace what you take out.i think its around 8 ounces(each side) or so.don't forget to replace the flat rubber gasket under the fork caps.i just noticed that chart that yamaharley post is from maxima and i do believe is wrong.type E is for older non cartridge type forks ,type B is 5wt and is standard , type heavy wt (or screaming eagle heavy)is 10 wt.i may be wrong on this but according to my dealer thats the weight listing for harley brand fork oils.
