Hey guys I think I have a problem
Good afternoon!
first off let me start by saying that this is my first ever harley. Up until now I've been a hondatwin kind of guy. I have a 2016 883 iron and I absolutely love it.
On to the problem. Yesterday as I was riding to work, I slowed down to pull off at a gas station and my oil light came on. I checked the oil and my levels are just fine. Once I headed back out the light turned back off once I had accelerated. Then today on my way home from work I experienced the same issue. Every time I would slow down the light would come on. As I pulled into the driveway I noticed a clanking like noise that grew worse as the rpms felt like they where trying to bottom out? I killed it immediately. After it cooled down I tried starting it again and it made a godawful loud clank and I killed it again. I have no idea. Any insight would be hugely appreciated!

Is it still under warranty? If so, have your dealer come and pick it up.
If not under warranty, sounds like something major has let loose. Pull the cam cover, have a look, cut oil filter open and see if there's any metal in there. Proceed from there.
Best of luck.

My guess would be the same as Skidder's. Unfortunately. Get it to the dealer, and good luck.
Still under warranty? Got an ESP?

If it's under warranty:
1. Remove any mods you've made and put the bike back to 100% stock. Harley LOVES to deny warranty claims because you "modified" the bike...even the littlest "modifications" and they will try to get out of warranty work.
2. Call the dealer and have them pick up the bike.
If there is no warranty, well, find a mechanic and hope for the best.
PS> Never run an engine with the oil light on...period...sometimes it's just a bad sending unit (usually leaks oil)...most of the time though, something is causing a serious drop in oil pressure your engine is facing death.
