Default What the hell did I just drain????

Well wouldn't you know it, first oil change and I already screwed it up! My head was someplace the sun want shining or something but I pulled the hex plug next to the engine oil drain thinking I was draining the tranny but by the time I questioned it, it was damn near drained. Not sure what it is but the owner's manual isn't telling me so I'd sure appreciate some help 😖

That's what you call learning the hard way. Won't ever make that mistake again!

Wait till you forget to put back in the drain plug, you just have to laugh at yourself when you start to see the oil pouring out.

More than that. You drained the sump instead of the oil tank. Not sure if all the oil in the tank made its way out or not since I've never done that. I know there's a procedure for a scavenging oil change but I think that involves pumping the oil out of the sump. Not sure what happens if you just remove the drain plug. How much came out?

By the time I realized it and stuck the drain plug back in there was maybe 3 qrts that had drained.

Is there any issue with simply pouring it back in - which is what I did...?

It should be fine. You’ll probably have zero oil pressure for a few seconds when you first fire it up. Takes a little longer to circulate through the system when the sump is dry.
