Now, by all means, feel free to go argue every little detail with him.

Use the correct weight oil. Synthetic will make more top end noise than conventional oil. Pick your poison.
Use the 10w40 in your car.

My question was never answered
It was a question regarding a spec sheet, specifically oil being tested at 100c that I read about. I'm not an oil expert so I asked for advice. If thats to much for you to handle then back off and let someone with that knowledge answer .
I also asked for any oil tech savoy people that may be able to help which obviously isn't you with your cut and paste graph

Some are trying to be helpful here. Best advice I saw was use the oil that you got in a good deal in your car. I did find that on my old Harley Road King that Mobile 1 did tend to allow a little more noticeable valve rattle at stops.

HD recommends a 20w-50 grade oil for your engine. a 40 grade oil is thinner than recommended.
(Harley stopped selling their HD 360 10w-40 oil, but used to recommend it only when used in temperatures under 40 F.)

My bad. I assumed the bolded text above was the primary concern. How the hell did I ever make a mistake like that?

You bought the wrong viscosity oil.
You got a great deal on 10w40 because not many modern engines use that grade.

15 or 20w50 or 60...straight 50 or 60 weight depending on where you live...10w40 is ok for metric bikes, friend of mine ran it in his GL1800 for 300000 miles...never an issue but it’s a car engine in a Goldwing really and share fluids with clutch.
stick with recommended weights, tolerances in a Harley are not as tight.
