Unclear what info you are looking for, a guide to doing the full service or just what type/brand of oil?
If just oil, everyone has their favorite, so just have a read through the oil threads and pick one!
Ok, it's just that you posted under Oil. I would let the dealer do it being so new, maybe they have updates etc that they need to do.
Not to Hijack the thread, but can they look up the bike and see if there are any updates available. If the bikes under warranty would they update it for free?
I've been buying new bikes since 1968 and have always done my own servicing, with only rare exceptions, however I have always had that first service done by the supplying dealer. There was a time when it was a part of the original sale, which made it dumb to do it yourself. As for why get them to do it, there are lots of silly things that can come to light during those early miles, added to which there are possible updates, as already mentioned. Doesn't matter what they may be, pretty well anything! There is a short mileage to that first service, but quite obviously a much longer interval to the next one. The first service gets you ready access to your service department for the next few thousand miles. On my three V-twins that has involved the charging system, wheel bearings and front forks.
There looking to change me $450 for the first service do you think they are going to charge me more for the updates I also bought the bike used from the dealer with 300 miles on it, it’s a 2017 Softail Slim bought it in September of 2018 do you think they could have did the updates already looking to save some money by doing my own service
