Default Two Different Mobil1 oils?

I stopped a the local Walmart. While there, I stopped to see if they had any Mobil1 on sale. Oddly, they had a Mobil1 20w/50 V twin synthetic oil for $9.98 a quart, and another for $9.54 a quart?????

One said 'full synthetic' and the other said 'advanced full synthetic'. One had a blue stripe behind the motorcycle, the other blue. What's the difference?

About 44 cents for Enhanced ?.........When you go to their site, it appears the 9.54 has been replaced by the 9.98

I don't know why Mobil keeps changing their bottles. They need to leave them alone.

"bobistheoilguy.com" has all the answers to questions about vehicle lubrication. Highly recommended.

Mobil 1 15W-50 Advance Full Synthetic is $25.47 for a 5 quart jug at Walmart.
An Exxon Mobile engineer told me, that is the best oil they make for Harley Davidson air cooled engines.
Their 20w-50 V-Twin oil is designed like Syn3 oil, to be used in all 3 holes.
The drawback of the 15w-50 is that it can only be run in the engine. I suppose you could run it in the transmission but I run Redline Shockproof there. And it's way to slippery for the primary where I run Redline Primary oil.

So if you run 15w-50 in your engine, you save about 4 bucks a quart and you get better engine lubrication.

I read somewhere that 20-50 V-twin has a few more additives that most car spec do no approve of due to polutions standards.

You do not want a high detergent motor oil in primary or transmission since they are unfiltered. Even Harley now recommends SYN 3 as second choice for primary and transmission.

I have been using Mobile 1 15-50 in my Harley engine for last 30k with no problem .. Still runs like new at 50K

what correlation is there for filter and detergents??
hd's use roller cams so the need for additives for flat tappets are a waste. if you look at cutting edge engine technology the need for certain anti-wear additives is going down. who would have though a few years back that 0-20 oil would be used on high output engines, even turbo charged engines like1.5L and 200 hp.

Oils with detergents keep crud in suspension. Then, while small, filter catches it. In a no filter gearbox, you just want it to fall out and settle to the bottom. Over time, the big stuff will sort of interlock and remain there as a gray mass. When you overhaul one, you will see it. You also see it in the engine oil pan, so not sure just how truly critical it is or just a play on words. Search most major Oil company web sites and read what the detergent additive is for. I truly believe most oil additives including stuff added to oil falls out also and have seen it in the bottom of bottles that have set on the shelf a while. So, shake your bottle and do you end of season oil change in the spring if you let bike set over winter.

That 0-20 is used and even thinner with hydraulic cam timing and such...V-tech and other similar such. Turbo bearings, My CRV has it and even a cam in the intake air body. These modern engines have unreal tolerances on the crank bearings and such thru out engine. I just rebuilt my Jeep motor and I used different shells top and bottom to achieve minimum tolerance.
