I use any good synthetic M/C oil for four strokes.

 

The absolute cheapest 20-40 oil that I can find. Then change it myself using cheapest oil filter that I can find. This has worked for me since 1956. Don't need no fancy azz whupdedo chemialized syrup oil byproduct of dinosaur ejaculation.

Changing oil at proper intervalsis wayyyy more important that what kind..imo

I'm just hangin' 'round the thread waitin' on Potsdam to check in, then I be gone. BUT, as long as I'm waitin', I use AMSOIL, because one of my riding buds has become a dealer and I get it VERY reasonable, as in FREE, (I work on his ride) and it is good stuff. My Dad used it for years in our farm equipment. Hot damn, where's Potsdam? Hurry up, Rick, I be burnin' daylite waitin on your ****!!!!! Why waste your money on even the cheapest synthetic if you are pouring int in before winter storage and then draining it out in the spring?

You would be perfectly safe, changing your oil in the fall and then firing up the engine and using it as usual in the spring. This method has worked for my 1985 inboard Chevy powered boat for over 2 decades.
