I have never seen 20w50 diesel oil on the shelf anywhere, but I only started looking 30 years ago, when I read the recommendation in my `89 Harley owners manual, I haven`t even found it online for purchase.

You should be asking the dealer...You`re killin me.
I just got off the phone with the service dept manager from a Harley Dealer and ask him about the "bearings skidding" myth and all I got out of him was him laughing at my question about bearing skidding. Harley has been selling Syn oil for many many years now and with that said they would never tell a customer syn oil wouldn't be good for an Harley engine. They do recommend using a Syn oil for hotter temps though that also being told to customers for that same many many years.

Harley builds these bikes with a hole lot of research & development too make sure its product works well. Why would you ask a Harley dealer for advice because they know more about it then you. They don't through Millions of Millions of Dollars into there R and D department just to through money away its done to Perfect there Product.

Now your killing me!

The question a while back was ask where can one find 20w50 Diesel Oil over 15w40 Diesel Oil being its the only oil (15w40) that is found (where ever). I simply went online found some Brands that have the 20w50 Diesel OIl then Googled where to find/buy them and called them guess what they do sell it , Sorry you can't find this "Mysterious" ghost oil but maybe its because you live where ever you live and that's not being a smart *** its a fact.
I have nothing more to say to trolls that have nothing better to do than to make people jump through hoops for there enjoyment.

it seems like there are a number of oils that would be fine to run in the engine.
so what about the transmission and primary case ?
does "hd 360" go in all 3 holes ?
or should something like mobile 1 v-twin or castrol actevo 4t (jaso,ma2) be used in the primary case

I used to keep an eye out for it also as I always thought it could be a good, cost effective oil. Closest I ever found readily available was Mystic JT8 15W50 Diesel in 5 gal. buckets at farm & ranch type stores in my area. I didn't really want 5 gal. though so didn't ever buy any.

So, i went with Lucas High Performance Motorcycle Oil (Synthetic 20w50) in the Engine and primary with Lucas 75w90 Synthetic Gear Oil in the transmission.
I've only ran it to check for leaks and levels but the valve tick seems to be less, clutch and shift seems to be fine, neutral seems to be easier to find, seems to be quieter over all.

Opinions ?
