Default Amsoil 20w-50 bad for motor?

I had a dealer tell me not to use Amsoil 20w-50 because it wrecked some Harley motors. He told me his tech went to a workshop were Harley showed them 6 bikes that the engines were destroyed because they used Amsoil. According to this site and threads about oil, Amsoil seems to be one of the preferred choices. Has anyone heard of this before, or was the dealer feeding me sh--?

I think that it is BS, but Amsoil buys all their base synthetic from Mobil 1 and then adds "their" additives if I'm not mistaken, so if that's the case you might as well as buy Mobil 1 and you can buy that at any Walmart.

It's all BS! Been using Amsoil in all 3 holes for years and not one single problem.

Amsoil has put lots of time and research in their oil and have bonafide facts on their website. I have never personally met anyone that had something bad happen its always "this person said that they know someone that", or "I heard that its bad or makes engines blow up"...
BS....
i've used it in all 3 of my Jeeps(1 offroader, 2 pavement queens) and my bike. No probs on any.

Thanks for the responses. I still used the Amsoil but just wanted a little reassurance I guess.

I just made 2 trips of 230 miles this weekend. I rode the bike at 75 mph to 90 mph the entire way. That is 460 miles of running the $h1t out of the bike. When I got home. I checked the oil, trans, primary. I use Amsoil 20W-50 in all three. The level was just as it was when I changed it. The bike ran flawlessly, and the Thunderheader's song was music to my ears.

Hmmm.... I've put way more than 460 miles on my bike in two days...and didn't feel like the **** was ran out of it. My 'DC feels right at home between 80 and 85... and the occasional run up to/past 100.... not pushing her a bit. I don't think your correct oil levels have anything to do with running Amsoil, as much as it has to do with your riding a 2010 bike... unless you've trashed it... it's not going to use much.

For the OP, I would suggest using application specific oil.... no reason to dump the same stuff in all three holes. Some people do, and seem to get away with it. My brain says "no... use specific oil for the application"

Well I feel, and my *** feels like I ran the **** out of it. I guess you just have to take my word for it that I feel that way, and coming from a XV700 where close to 90 mph and sometimes faster for 460 miles would probably rattle your teeth out. If not have the bike just fall to pieces when you stopped like in the last scene of the Blues Brothers. But if you have to correct me, feel right ahead. I am not that thin skinned.

Default oil

On a '99 lowrider, you would use the same oil in the engine and the primary? Correct?
