Default Group V synthetics, who makes them.

Which oil companies make the group V synthetics. You know the top of the line synthetic oil. I know that Redline is one. Amsoil and Mobil 1 is group IV .

RedLine is the best known, but I believe Motul 300V and Maxima Maxum 4 are also considered to be 'Group V'...

It gets confusing though as many synthetic oils are made from a base containing both Group IV POA and Group V Esters.

Pretty sure this is true of Amsoil and also the Mobil 1 SuperSyn oils (such as the Gold Top Mobil 1 15W50 Extended Performance synthetic).

Amsoil & Mobil1 EP are definitely not GroupV synthetic oils. Redline is the only on I have seen that is really POE.

Amsoil and Mobil 1 EP are considered Group IV, but they contain both POA and Ester base stock.

Motul 300V Sport/Competition oil is 100% POE, and the same can be said for some of the Silkolene oil.

I'll believe the Motul and never heard of Silkolene...but Amsoil & M-1...I really doubt they have very much Ester in them. Mobil1 has had a difficult time defending it is a GroupIV and no longer will say in writing that it is. Try sending an email to their customer service people and ask them if they are a groupIV...the last time I did I got a bunch of mumbo jumbo and no straight yes/no answer. Amsoil will tell you straight out that they are a group IV and their XL brand is groupIII.

Thumbs up Group v oils

Klotz synthetic is another group V oil. I have ran there oil is my V-Twins for many years with exceptional results. The group V oils excell in being very stable at high oil temps. My current 2009 Stock Roadglide oil temps reach between 250-300 degrees constantly in stop and go traffic. I wouldn't want any other oil lubricating an air cooled engine except for a Group V oil. Redline oil is also a very good oil to use. Why do you think that Amsoil never includeds Klotz and Redline in the testing they do??? I would strongly suggest one of these oils for the best protection available. Peace of mind for me!

And speaking of Group V oil...................

Mr. Brown Truck (UPS) dropped off the RedLine 20W60 today. Suppose to be nice outside tomorrow, so I'll probably drain the FatBoy and fill it up with the RedLine....

Problem is, I guess I must have hit the "order button" twice, as instead of getting 1 case of 12 quarts I received 2 cases (24 quarts).....

Oh well, at only $8 and change for each quart it's a good deal so I might as well just hang on to all of it....

As oil prices keep going up you may be thankful you hit the order button twice here in the near future, plus im pretty sure that the shelf life is around 5 years or more, so you'll probably use it all up by then.
