What Primary Oil is your Choice
#452
I'm gonna run Castrol 10w40 Actevo 4T in the primary and 20w50 in the crank and tranny then evaluate at 5000. I think gear lube may be a bit much for that tranny, when 20W50 has proven reliable as anything over the years. From what I've read, sure can't hurt anything and I like Castrol. I'll also do my own 1000 mi change, not that I dont trust the dealer, but I'll have to look everything over anyways, might as well do it myself and save the 100 mile trip (twice and leaving it overnight at least) NOT

I noticed Primary + is gone from Harley's website. I noticed this when someone in another forum pointed out that conventional 360 oil is also gone from the site.

have been running for years the Mobil one 15 50 for cars in the crankcase. Only because the 20 50 Vtwin stuff costs too much. I just last week got 4 quarts of the 20 50 stuff from Oreillys with it labeled as a price drop. Not a sale but a price drop. Intend to give it a shot this week. With the new price it wasn't much more than the regular Mobil1. Primary I don't fuss over and run whatever I have laying around, and the tranny only takes mobil1 synthetic gear oil.

I just put Redline in my primary and only after about 30 miles I can tell a huge difference in the way it is shifting. It's a lot smoother..no cluck..easier to find N as well.

Friction modifiers
What's with Friction Modifiers? Good medicine or bad medicine in tramsmitchins? Label says "Mobile 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS, 75W-90 With Limited Slip Friction Modifier". Not labeled as Motorcycle. What about those Friction Modifiers? Okay for transmission?
