Is Pan America good for Harley?

Well, I think Harley did a great job on this bike and it holds its own pretty well against the 'other' bikes even if it did not race a Dakar rally. Yes, this is a Harley forum and I am here because I have a Harley. I have also owned BMW's, which are some of the top notch bikes as well.
My first BMW was bought in 1992. I have owned 4 so far. My latest was a 2006 model (K1200GT). It was not until recently that BMW started treating warranty like a warranty. For the whole time I owned my versions BMW blamed the rider for failures until the government made them recall and fix things. And yes, there are things that go wrong with BMW's as well. The grass is not actually greener over that fence.
Honda probably has the best reputation in the forums as building reliable and desirable motorcycles. But the reality there is they also break. Many 'adventurers' have had broken frames and other issues as they are out roaming the back roads.
There is no 'magic bullet.' Many reviewers for ragazines and YT channels claim they like the PA and recommend it over the competition. Some even state they were sure they would not like it but changed their mind when riding it.
Is it 'good' for Harley? Of course it is. Is it good for you? That is up to you to decide.

285 posts in 14 years, and this is one, You probably shouldn't buy this bike. Though I might hazard wager, even without a radiator, you are not the market it is aimed at.

At the risk of cursing myself….
I havent had any major issues with this bike other than the starter one which has gone away. So ya, I think this great for HD. I get an awful lot of questions about the bike, and because I have been fortunate with the lack of gremlins, I can speak very highly of the bike. If I had to choose between my RGS and this… I would take this in a heartbeat. On top of which, I did take the BMW out for a test drive and quite frankly it left me cold.

My view. Today the servicing dealer delivered my P.A.S back after three weeks plus of sorting out yet another problem. At present I own numerous H-D’s from the 60’s to 22 including LiveWire. While my P.A.S has had its share of issues and then some it came down to the two dealers working on the bike that didn’t understand it. I had daily text/calls from H-D corporate with updates in the past three plus weeks. Part’s overnighted. Some serious head scratching from dealer service. Everyone believes the jest of it was battery related, with the dealer the last to come on board. Starter clutch and new battery were the main components and Im sure a couple minor parts as well. Am I happy with the bike? Neutral at this point. Am I happy with the dealer and H-D with their response? Absolutely. Stating the obvious, it’s mechanical and electrical, complicated to the inexperienced. What isn’t complicated is response, effort, end results. I give the team involved the highest marks for that.
