My 21 came with a small kit, including the chain tool. I added some additional items.

I think it's there under the seat but never touched it to be honest, I just transported the cruztools metric stuff I had and some allen/torx sets I ran with. Hopefully not too off topic but I'm actually thinking of going with MP Tool Metric for saving me a little space. I just have to cross shop it with the HD stuff to make sure I'm not missing anything.

No tools. Nothing at all. They should've given me a bottle of paracetamol to cure the headaches this bike has given me. Under the seat I have a mini Cruz tool, zip ties and tape and a tubeless repair kit which I have used once in the past on another bike and it works !

Longer trip I throw a bigger HD tool roll in. The one I got with my first Dyna back in 2000. Good quality.

Hold the tool vertically next to the chain lining up the bar between the 2 openings with the chain. Pushing up, the chain shouldn't go above the top opening, nor below the bottom opening when pushing down.

Are you saying the red arrow is 60 MM?

[QUOTE=barneyboy;21123426]Are you saying the red arrow is 60 MM?E]

so the red arrow is 82mm

the larger opening on the right is approx 49 mm. (50mm is maximum tightness)

the smaller rectangle opening is. 25mm

and the bridge between the two is 8mm

so I can see the gauge taking into account chain thickness working as described by joerockstar, correct ? I'll take it out to the bike in a few days and figure int out.

Serious question for the OP. If the MOCO designed a tool to measure chain deflection, one would think they would also provide direction on it's use in the form of written instructions or, at the least an illustration? I can't find neither. One guy (in the video) demonstrates his interpretation of it's use. Another guy (joerockstar) explains his interpretation of it's use. Interestingly enough, they both differ. Begs the question, where are these guys getting their procedural info from?

Good question, the factory service manual makes no mention of the tool.
