26k to bring it into dirt trails, I still can’t grasp that idea yet.

Agree. Pure marketing ploy. I had a Duc Multistrada 1200. I found no joy riding a $20K, 550Lbs, 150HP big Adv off road.

I do enjoy a big Adv on gravel and secondary roads though. That PA Limited is sweet. If it had radar (adaptive cruise & blind spot detection), I would sell my VSTROM 1050XT and buy one tomorrow. A belt final drive would seal the deal.

Its not meant to be a dual sport. Its a touring machine that can take you offroad should you need to. Check out Adam Sandoval's recent travel vids to Mexico and Thailand.. The roads switch up fast and he routinely says how great the PA is for both conditions.
And having a belt drive on an ADV bike doesnt make any sense IMHO. I've seen conversions done, but a chain is probably the best option for the PA.
Theres some that will never be convinced the PA is a good bike, and thats fine. But saying its way different than others in its (price/weight) class is just a bad take.

I rode from NC to Alaska and back on my Adv. I'm guessing I cleaned and lub'ed the chain 15 or 20 times. I would opt for a belt final drive in a skinny minute.

Agreed, chain maintenance is a pain. But i bet you would had a snapped belt without one, on your trip. That would be worse!

I rode a 2026 PA 1250 Special yesterday. I am riding a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro and while I love that bike, the PA impressed the crap out of me. A five mile ride doesn't tell the whole story of course, but as I switched through the modes, I felt the performance and throttle response change and it was FUN. I have ridden all kinds of Harleys from 1970 Sportsters to my 2021 FLHTK, but not a V-rod. The PA is something different and I am going to really have to think hard about it. This is a good problem.
