1986 Clearcoat or not?

I bought my 883 Sportster new in 1986. The paint on the tank needs some TLC and I've been trying to find out if the paint was clearcoated from the factory. Anybody know for sure? Thanks.

Yes it was. Take a look at the decals on the tank. They have clear over them...YD
