Hi,
I have an 08 RK. Sometimes when I hit the start, it sounds like there are a handful of bolts rattling around inside the primary and I have to try a second time before it actually fires up. This past weekend I had to try 3x and barely got it to start but for the rest of the day it started 1st time, no fuss.
is this the start of the primary spring needing to be replaced. I have approx. 44000 km (25000mi)

 

Sounds like the starter overrunning clutch failing to me.

 

Compensator is going **** up; check it out.

 

Yep this. My money is on the compensator.
