You want about 5/8" free play, cold at the tightest spot.

It's not a bad experience at all,regardless. You can decide if you want to wrench more yourself or look for other mechanics/gurus' advice. It's a win-win that way. Buying experience good or bad is always valuable.

Consider yourself lucky he wasn't their TOP Bike Salesman

2nd that. mine got over tight and took out trans bearing. now I'm running a Hayden m6. super quiet.
