Friend is working on his 78 shovelhead and wants to know which way the trans sprocket goes on. Does the flat side of the sprocket goes to the trans or does it face outward ? One side has an indention and i believe it goes on looking at the transmission. Thanks!

 

Flat toward Primary, shoulder toward trans. This is the final drive sprocket going from the trans to the rear wheel correct?

 

yes, the final drive sprocket. We installed it with the flat side out. I was pretty sure it went that way. I had to go down and dig out my shovelhead service manual. It only showed two pic's of the sprocket and made no mention on which way it went on. Been a while since i've had one apart. THANKS !
