Default Does this gear need to be replaced?
1980 Sportster
I am rebuilding my transmission. A few of the gears obviously need to be replaced (the ones with missing teeth, ugh) But this one I am not sure. The teeth are fine but there is some wear inside, down and to the right of the "12". Any suggestions?

Its really not too bad yet, but I'd replace it as long as you're there. Do it right, do it once. JMHO, YMMV, etc.

Any reason NOT to replace it..... I wouldnt want to do it all again

anytime there is a broken surface I would replace the gear also because they wear together I would replace the matched gear to that one

Best to replace it now while the vehicle is apart.
