Default One quart and tranny's not full -- Huh???

07 RKC w/ IDS. So far, so good.

Reading all the raves about Redline Shockproof, I decided to give it a try. Honestly, didn't have issue to "fix" but...you know how that goes. Couldn't leave well enough alone.

Couldn't find Redline locally, ended upordering off web and spending about $18 with shipping. OK, kinda' steep but, still no big deal.

Drained the Belray 75-140 (attemptingto address clatter, before IDS) and added the Redline. The tranny dipstick shows about 1/8" below the add mark. Rode it about 25 miles and tried again. Still 1/8" low. Tranny works fine. Better???? We'll see. No big difference. Hard to tell after just 25 miles.

So, what now? Leave it low? Spend another $18 and add a little more? I have some Royal Purple 75-140 and tempted to top off with that. (Damn. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.)

Appreciate your thoughts.

Maybe the container was short a bit. I'd add more of whatever you put in there.

You have to measure with the bike straight up, not on thekickstand. Also, give it about 30-40 seconds for the oil to come to level. One quart is plenty, probably too much.

The Bel Ray should have quieted that trans as much as any heavy gear oil will. Those who notice the big difference are those who are using 20w50 oil in the trans and switch to gear oil. Top it off with the RP. But like said before with the RLSPH you have tocheck it hot as that stuff clings to everything.

The 07 RK calls for 38 ounces on a wet fill. You are 6 ounces short. They give specs for a reason. I would get another bottle and not mix but that's just me.

It's also checked on the side stand on that bike.

I know, pretty rude to seek advice and then argue but...

Service manualsays check fluid level withbike on jiffy stand, dipstick resting on threads, not screwed in. And it's definitely 1 quart - 32 oz. - and not 38 oz. (unless Service manual's wrong). Primary is 38. And one quart of BelRay was fine. I am starting to think the Redline quart was a little short.

I'll warm it up good and try again. If still short... might mix in some RP. Or, bite the bullet and get another overpriced quart of Redline. $18 or potential tranny problems??? Hmmm, guess that should be a no-brainer.

You're right , my mistake, I was thinking primary at 38 oz. Trans is 1 quart.
