Question 4Speed Clutch Rod Question

'76 shovel and 4 sp w/ primo open belt drive. New clutch rod, throwout etc. Has alum outer clutch plate with adjusting screw with like a ball bearing on the tip. Clutch rod is like a valve push rod with a rounded end through clutch pack. Everything works good and can adjust all the slack out of the clutch linkage and clutch releases find. Just does not make sense that the ball on the adjusting screw and the rounded end on the push rod are suppose to mate. Seems like there would be a cup on one end or the other. Is this normal?? Another question please. Using outer bearing support plate and a super nut on the countershaft. The super nut is so thick that the bearing support plate will not fit up to the case. Added a few spacers (about 1/4 inch) between case and bearing support. super nut is right up against the bearing on the support plate but seems ok as i think they both spin at the same speed. Sprocket nut is tight (about 80 ftlbs) and clutch basket has plenty of clearance and again all seems to be ok. Should I use a stock countershaft nut or is supernut and spacers okay? Just need a little assurance from someone more experienced.
Thanks..
