Just say No!! [to Manitoba].
Our ride there will be a bunch of mid-length days. We will be getting to Lake Louise Night one. Continuing on the next day to Revelstoke, Nakusp and Kaslo. We will stay in Nelson night two.
Day three we will ride highway 3A down Kootenay Lake's BC DH1. I've read the ride report many times, it is rated as BC's #1 motorcycle road based on a number of factors. We'll cross south to Idaho at Porthill, and get onto US 95. I'm thinking the old spiral highway to Lewiston, and tuck in for the night.
Lolo pass awaits, and we'll ride on to Lolo, and then up to Interstate 90 at Missoula. Bombing along the Interstate, turning south toward Red Lodge. I'm contemplating a good hotel, as it's tents for a week after that...
Up and over Beartooth Pass, and down Chief Joeseph to Cody. Stop for gas, and carry on - Throught the Bighorn National Forest. Keep on rollin and potentially slip up to Devil's Tower, Belle Fourche and roll into the Buffalo Chip from the North on SR 79.
Tents hopefully set up in some daylight.
99 Days til stands are up.

Brings back some good memories we did Lake Louise, Lolo Pass, Beartooth, Chief Joseph and then I think it was highway 14 across the Bighorn mtns. Great riding and some beautiful country. We are also going to sturgis for the first couple days then back over the Beartooth again and maybe head for Colorado who knows we have 16 days to wander around.
Have a great ride you certainly will be on some nice roads, Lolo pass was great.

Ultra - Yeah it's gonna be a great lead up. I've been wanting to ride DH1 since I got the book. Just never made it. Lolo is supposed to be fantastic, I dunno which is better Lolo or Beartooth. It don't matter - they'll all be good.
Flhxkiller - Thanks for the tip. I'm sure we'll just BW or whatever we find, but the Red Lodge stop needs a good stopover point. We just have to make it to Sturgis in the daylight to setup the tents.
Just getting the spring shakedown rides going.

Left Red Lodge early in the morning rode Beartooth /Chief Joseph and had lunch in Cody. Then took 14A over Bighorns to I90 and was back at the lodge in Hill City by dark. If you've got heated gear bring it, it was snowing and in the 30's when I rode it 2 yrs ago after being 100' in Billings the day before.
