The Journeys of Darla ....

52 & 30 are good roads. A bit bumpy In spots. 30 has some 4 lane but it was not busy like the Interstates. Lots of little towns along the way so never very far from food and fuel. The weather was good, if not a bit cool for the morning.
I got to Boone and got a room at a Motel 8. Nice place, not to expensive and breakfast in the morning.
Tomorrow I am heading down to Winterset to find the bridges in the morning.
I liked 30 so much I am going to come back to it tomorrow and run it all the way to Wyoming. I already booked a room in Cody for Monday, so that gives me 4 days to poke along.

I am a map guy from back in the day. I do use my NAV for some things, like navigating through city's where I want to keep my eyes up and then listen to the voice prompts...., but I still preplan if necessary with Google Maps if I dont have paper.
I have tried to set routes with multiple turns, but It is cumbersome.
If all else fails I would go back to the way I use to when Truck Driving. Sticky notes on the window. Then just look for the next road. Sort of like this ... Hwy 41, 10 miles to road 16 .... road 16, 12 miles to route 4.... etc. Then peal them off so your current section is the one your looking for.

Back in 2007/2008 I traveled between NY and NW Arkansas a bunch of times and stuck my Mapquest directions to my windscreen. But that was all interstate so there weren't allot of different roads to look out for.
