I ran interstate 15 from Idaho Falls to just south of Pocattelo, then headed east on 30 which is a pretty nice Hwy all the way to 80. This is the first of several passes up and down.

Over the top and looking into the first Valley.
That "first valley" picture is from Fish Creek pass. The break in this yonder mtns (where you went through) is the West end of Soda Springs, ID. If you waited to eat in Montpelier, then you missed out. If you pass back through Soda, stop at the Ender's Cafe. Excellent grub.

I did most of my growing up in Soda Springs and Conda (bonus points to anyone who actually knows where Conda was and what it was). You, sir, sure know how to make a man homesick. US30 is basically the route of the Oregon Trail. Historic sites all over that roadway.

A great day .... Again. I figured it would be a long one, so I got on the road at 8. Moab was to be my first stop. I was going to go into Arches for a bit, but the line up to get into the park was almost out to the road. So I went into town and and went to the Golden Arches instead, for breakfast. Back onto the road and on my way to Monument Valley, skirting the storms all along the way. Monument Valley is truly something to see. It does not disappoint and pictures do not do it justice. I was going to head east and then south, but the day was getting long and I headed West instead. Most of the road is straight, but the scenery is great. It was very windy once I got onto 89, and stayed that way for about 1/2 the way. Time for Picts ......

Hwy 191 heading South

Same

I think this is after Moab. I will come back to Moab when I have time to do it right, rent a jeep, ATV, etc.

Right by the road.

Big weather again

I drove through the that. Lightning and rain all around me. Only a few drops of rain though.

Monument Valley. Words cannot describe it. So I won't try.
