The Journeys of Darla ....

What a great day for riding! It turned out to be all new road! And as I said, I love new road… Highway 20 is pretty much straight so a great place to put your feet up on the pegs and have a cuppa coffee with the cruise control set. Once it switches over to 395 it starts to get Bendy and Once you get past burns 395 is a spectacular piece of highway. I can see why they never built the interstate on 395, it would’ve been very expensive. You climb up a mountain pass In the high Pines, and then You decend into a valley, on the other end of the valley you climb up into another mountain pass and then down into Burns, you’ll see in a moment in the pictures the type of road it is. Then you get on 26 and climb up another mountain pass, down the other side and you turn onto Highway seven, Highway seven is also spectacular Piece of road. This is definitely a great way to get from the west to the east or from the east to the west across Central Oregon.

Heading east out of Bend, A lot of Straight Road, but not a lot of traffic…
... Spectacular desert...
... Coming down the northside into John Day, just before you turn onto 26…
.... Some very nice sweepers, and several 25 and 30 mph corners...
...The switch back at the very bottom, not an easy place to park my motorcycle…
... Just north of John Day a bit, big pull up with great views…
.... Another brand new road, and the first 35 miles are spectacular, another mountain pass up and down, big sweepers and tight turns

Sitting in my room, having a cuppajoe.... the Sun streaming in my window on a Sunday Morning.... a bird lands on my Gas Cap.... Breakfast in the motel and then Fuel up and grab some lunch for the Hells Canyon Viewpoint... I will be heading East on 86 towards the South entrance into the Hells Canyon forestry road as I said.... for those that have never been there it is one of the best motorcycle rides anywhere, twisty narrow road, up and down a couple of passes, great place to stop at the viewpoint for lunch.... once through I will stop in Joseph for a break and go up to Chief Joseph’s burial site to pay my respects.... then North on Hwy 3 and go down the grade, over the Grande Ronde River, back up and over Rattlesnake Pass then down the twisties into Lewiston.....
Its time to Suit Up for a Bucket List Day....

Screw it..... this might be the only holiday I get this year. Heading east for another day. Back Wednesday, I think... lol.
Connections still suck, I will try one picture
Up on the plateau above Lewiston, pretty close to the spot where I got towed in from when my rear wheel bearings blew up.
