Thank you! That is one of my all time favourites. It is in on the Alcan in North East British Columbia. The Liard River is just off of the left side of the road and it is just a bit North of Muncho Lake. You are looking at the Northern Rocky Mountains. The road is very much like that all the way through.... looks like high speed sweepers, but to much broken pavement, frost heaves and pot holes for it to be..... just a nice 60 mph road.

I am heading to Vancouver in a couple of weekends, for about 10 days.... I have mapped out a route there and back. I would run it clockwise... it would be two days to Vancouver, and then four to six back. I have never been up in that part of the North East in BC.

Just thinking & mappin at this time.....

There is a lot of fin riding on that trip you have planned, most of it before Prince George. Riding from past Clinton to Ft St John is similar - minimal turns, slow down through small towns, and less mountains as you go.

Going through the Pine Pass is a nice ride. If you have time Chetwynd up to Hudson's Hope to Ft. St.John is a good ride too. Take a look at the dam if you have time.

Thanks for the heads up...... I will for sure run up to the Dam.... This is pretty much the last part of BC I have not been into, that and out to Bella Bella, but I wouldn't want to take my bike out there... I have always been a map guy, even when I was a kid, and I remember looking at Monkman lake, and thinking what a great place to go... but it is a 25 kilometer hike into it, so that aint happening... this will be a camping holiday, taking tents and gear, and cooking over a small gas stove.

Hope to go that way myself in August. Rode up there a few times but this time would like to go through to Grande Prairie and take #40 to Highway 16 and then head back to Houston. Maybe you meant Bella Coola. Its paved all the way to Anahim Lake then gravel down the hill and back to pavement the rest of the way. Was really hardpacked road. I stayed in the tire tracks and had no issues. Was on my Kawasaki Nomad. Nice country out there.

I have to work for a week, then I am heading to the Beach to visit my youngest daughter for a week or so.... then it so happens I have a month off with nothing to do.... sooooo, I have formulated a plan that i might put into place. I know I said I was going to run up into Norther BC, because I have never been there..... but I have also never run Route 66.... Now, my eldest daughter lives in St Paul, and it isnt that far away from Chicago, the start of 66... sooooo I ordered up a book on the Route. it is EZ66 route Guide by Jerry Mclanahan, and it should be at my daughters just after I get there.... all I got to do is get to the Santa Monica Pier..... sooooo back into the maps and I came up with this short 6,000 mile rounder..... of course I would stick to as much as the original road as i could, hence the book.... now I have two plans....

A nice little rounder that would include the PCH in California, Route 66, a visit to the museum in Milwaukee, both my girls, some time in the Corn fields, the Black hills, and a jaunt through Chief Joseph and The Beartooth, which means I hit all the passes in the Challenge.
