The Journeys of Darla ....
#1741
The car we have been using for Student Training is getting pretty long in the tooth so I am “selling” my Chrysler 200 to The Company. It was in the plans to do this when I got it. Even though I love driving the 200, I missed my Ram 1500 so I bought this yesterday. It’s got the 300 hp V6 which is plenty of power for me. And enough options to keep me comfortable.

I’ll tell you Larry, I am so fed up with it. I am sitting here having coffee and there is fresh snow in the trees from last nights snowfall. Two years ago, I had already been riding for two months.

Nice looking truck. They sure can get great horsepower out of V6’s now a days. Lots of power with decent fuel economy for a truck.

In the test ride, I found that the way I use the throttle, I could not notice it lacked power. Even when I hit it hard to see the passing power. I imagine it would be noticeable if I pulled a trailer. It has an 8 speed transmission, so I assume it will hunt for a gear when on the highway, especially if it is a rolling terrain. No paddle shifter, but there is a button on the steering wheel for up and downshifts, so that will be helpful. But I will tell you, that this long winter has me thinking that 6 months is too long to wait for riding ..... I might run the bikes south next winter for a month or so, and the car would never be able to run the appropriate trailer behind her. I could even just load up the Panhead on the truck and head south. All i need is a tent and a KOA.

Another Journey......
.....This has not been an easy decision. A while a go, I said that I was done in HDF, but came back. I wanted to see if I could fit in and even re-upped my membership..... but now realize that HDF and me are not compatible. My reasons are my own.
That does not mean that "Journeys" is ended, it just means I have moved it to my own Blog and another site where I think the fit will be better.
If you wish to contact me, please use a PM as that will come to my email, or visit me at my Blog. Just search for it. I am sure Imar will point you there if you cannot find it. But when I sign off, I wont be coming back, even to see if there are any responses to this Post. I am done, and it is time to move on. I have removed my Signature Line..... and respectfully asked the Mods to lock this thread.
Its been a hell of a ride here, hasn't it? Over 1,700 posts, close to 190,000 views over close to 24 months and 40,000 miles. But the ride continues. The Pan gets built and gets to Sturgis ..... Darla2 will do some short duration and long distance rides. And I will continue to hunt for the road less traveled.
Its been a slice. Maybe I will see you in the other site, or my Blog. Or best off all, like Salmo Pass, Imar, Scorpios and JW1 and BOB did...... on the road.
Journey Well, my Friends,
Rocky

Once More Unto The Breach, Dear Friends, Once More...."
Chris.... was a good friend. He was not a rider, actually did not even drive a car, but we had coffee together and he would often ask where I had been on the bikes. He even followed "Journeys" when he could. I knew him for close to 25 years.
He died a few weeks back.... of Cancer.
Terry..... Terry had cancer and started to run across Canada. He made it as far as Ontario and the cancer cut his run short, then it cut his life short. He started The Marathon of Hope on April 12, 1980, and he had to stop running several months later on Sept 1st.... he died the following spring, of Cancer. So far his foundation has raised in excess of $750 Million dollars for Cancer research. I never met him. I did have a plan to go see him run when he made it to BC. When I was in Ontario last year, I went to his memorial site..... and it hit me pretty hard. Someone i knew has just been diagnosed with cancer.
But a plan started to formulate. More on that later....
In the last three weeks, three people I know died of one form of Cancer or another.
I have decided to ride this year for them..... and everyone else who cannot. Those who have passed, those who are no longer able to ride .... those who cannot Journey like I can.
So, this Journey is for Chris, for Terry, for Len, for Dave.... and for Guy & Mary, for Brian, For Marvin and Ralph, for Richard, for Gary, for Mike and for Robert.... and others....
If you have someone who you would like to "Join" in on this ride, name them if you would like, even a picture would be good..... After all, this ride is for them also.
Tomorrow morning I head out on the first ride of the summer. Off to Jasper then onto Vancouver to help my daughter. Because this ride is for her also. She has Fibromyalgia and needs her dad down there to help with chores....
Locked and Loaded.....And ready to Journey..... its time to ride.
