Hard to break habits, it is called a "porte cochere". Per definition = a porch where vehicles stop to discharge passengers. Can you guess what I do for a living??
As stated, locks on the bike and a bike cover. I am a big fan of the bike cover to keep the bike dry and for security, and don't get the orange one with HD all over it. I have a rotor lock that I keep in my saddle bag, gets used if I am not in love with my parking situation, which is rare, but I do use it on occasion. Definitely get one with the orange chord with it, will save you money and lots of embarrassment.

**** about planing my trips, book hotels one year in advance after researching locations in cities. Use Trip Advisor, This Forum and Hotel reviews on internet. Park near/under lobby entrance roof.
Have half cover to keep moisture off seat since I leave early mornings.
If bike is stolen, gives me an excuse to upgrade bike to new year. LOL.

Every time I've stayed at a chain hotel (Hampton Inn, Hilton Gardens, Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, etc.) they've let me park the bike off to the side of the carport in front of the office. It's under lights, being recorded on camera, and would take a bit of a commotion to steal a 1000lb bike. I've never had a major hotel object to me parking there.
I do that, lock the forks, set the alarm, and use a disc lock. If it's a long trip I'll bring my bike cover and cover it too.

Disc lock, alarm, fork lock, Walmart full cover. At times have ran a cable thru rear wheel and frame. And always what I think to be a safe hotel with lots of lights. While I do have ins incase it does get stolen, I have no desire to go shopping or deal with the trouble of loosing my ride when out of town, so I do the best I can to prevent it.
