Disc Brake Alarm Lock

Disc Brake Alarm Lock
im deciding wheather to go with the 6mm or 10mm disc brake lock from artego. I do have the harley security alarm and radio shack mod siren already. I will be on a 3 week western trip and a few out of the way motels besides camping as well. I thought this would be a extra alarm if the first failed for some reason. Does anyone know what size hole a 2008 stock rotor has? i do think the 10mm will be stronger but dont know if it will fit in the hole. Thanks Jeff

If a pro comes for your bike, consider it gone!
Try to stay in a nicer motel and park your bike where you can see it. Lock the ignition and handlebars, set the alarm and forget about it. This is what insurance is for. I've had a rotor style lock (still in the package) and never used it, basically because of the fear of forgetting about it and then damaging my bike.
I've been thinking about buying a Go-Pro or similar camera to place inside my motel room just in case someone messes with (or steals) my bike. I'd call the cops if I saw it happening but attempting to stop them would more than likely end up being more trouble than the bike is worth.
In 48 years of owning bikes and touring through every state in the U.S, I've lost two and both were taken when I lived in Detroit and both from my house. I'd almost bet that you're in more danger of having a bike stolen from just about anywhere else than from in front of your motel room.

About 5 years ago we did the western trip. No interstates from Illinois to Arizona and back, southern route there and northern route back. We used BW the whole time and scored enough points during the month to get some free nights and many upgrades.
I didn't have the audible alarm added to my Ultra so I was using a disk lock alarm. Could professionals still have stolen it? Sure they could have but then again it may have scared some beginners away, I will never know.
Most of the BW's we used would let us park up front by the office, which many times meant under the awning by the entrance. Out of 30 some BW's we stayed at during that trip there may have been 2 or 3 that it would have even been possible to get the bike into a ground floor room. I wouldn't worry about having it stolen, just ride and have a good time.
