For those that have been how long realistically do you need to go through the museum?
Going to pass right in front of it on my way to the Michigan UP over the 4th. I'm trying to work it into our plans but time is somewhat limited.

I was there July 4th weekend last year and stayed at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. it was a little pricy but its a few blocks from HD. I spent 1/2 a day just hanging around parking area of HD, they have a nice bar/restaurant and a coffee shop with comfy outdoor seating to meet and talk to other riders. The museum is great wearing the headsets and stopping at every display took prob 4 hours, also its free if a HOG member.

All depends how much interest you have in the "history" of it all. You could spend 3-4 hours if you wanted to really spend time at every display and exhibit. But, you can also be in and out in an hour or two if you just went with a quick walk through seeing the sites. I've done both, and would recommend the stop even if it's quick.

The museum is certainly worth the visit. I'd suggest signing up for one of the curator led tours as they will point out certain things of interest that you may miss as you drool all over the bikes.

When in Milwaukee, you gotta go on a brewery tour! I highly recommend Lakefront Brewery. I think it was on a Friday when we went, and they were doing a fish fry as well. The fried cheese curds were really great.
